1. Location - Location is what usually dictates the general style for a country wedding. It is best to use the great outdoors for either your ceremony or reception. If you have a friend or family friend with a farm, ask them if you can hold your wedding there. Usually they will let you use the space for free. Find a nice grassy section and get married under the natural beauty of the trees and nature.
2. Table Decor- Collect old mason jars from antique stores, or wrap soup cans with pretty straw raffia. This will keep costs down and give your wedding a beautiful country feel. If you are limited on budget go pick some gorgeous wildflowers. Wildflowers are so beautiful and unique. They make amazing table decorations.
3. Seating - Use old wooden tables and chairs for seating. Borrow them from friends and neighbors. This will give a beautiful vintage appearance to your wedding. Or even sitting on bales of hay is a great idea that feels very country.
4. Activities - Hay rides are always fun. Transport your guest from their cars to the ceremony via hay wagon. This gets people talking and having fun right as they enter your wedding.. What is a country wedding without some country music? Look for great country bands in your area. For some extra excitement, give the band some customized guitar picks with your wedding date on them. Have them toss them out to the crowd. Guests can have fun catching them and keep them as a nice memento of your wedding.
5. Escort cards - Let guests know where they are sitting, by growing little tin buckets of grass. Attach the name cards onto a skewer cut in half and stick it into the grass. This makes for such a natural looking escort card. Plus, it is inexpensive and easy to do.
These are just a few ideas to get you started on creating a memorable and fun filled country wedding.
