I wear, sell and been working with leather clothing for most of my life. In a nut shell, that makes me a big enthusiast of leathers. Mostly because of the comfortableness you get when wearing them. They are light, supple and extremely durable. But even if leathers are naturally durable, it does yield to unkind condition. You have to realize that leather is an organic and biodegradable merchandise. As a result, they will be affected by the sun's ultraviolet rays as well as acid rain from pollution. So what can you do to preserve your leathers looking good, here is my advice:
To maintain your new leather jacket looking fresh, it takes just a little time for regular care and understanding. The objective is to maintain the dyed colour and the cleanliness of the material without baringout the natural lubrication, which can cause dulling and breakdown of the material. Choose cleaners that maintain this moisture, yet leave derriere no oily or sticky residue, and follow the cleaning instructions closely.
Remember to use extreme caution if you plan to assume undertake cleaning by yourself. Here are a few tips:
1 - To begin, make very certain to apply cleaners that are suited for the types of leathers you wish to clean. Cleaners that are perfect for auto seat covers, for example, may be all wrong for an Italian lamb leather
jackets. Use products in an extremely well-ventilated area, preferably near a sink, since many products can cause skin, eye and lung irritation.
2 - Very CRUCIAL - When using a product for the first time, be sure to test it on an area of the leather coat or leather jacket that is not noticeable to others when the garment is worn. Like underneath the arm or beneath the cuffs. The same rule of thumb also holds true for conditioners and polishers that can cause streaking, drying, or oily spots if not used decently. When in doubt, contact the place where you purchased the jacket for advice on what brands of cleaning products are right for your purchase.
Fashion changes, and so does the materials that are used for apparels, but no other material has kept its popularity as constant throughout the years as leather. From my experience, I think leather jackets are trendy for the reason that they can not be fully duplicated. Every leather hide is unique; as a result every leather coat will have certain singularity. The blemishes or birthmarks that is on the leather is what makes the jacket distinctive. And maybe that is the true reason why we like leathers so much, we all want something that is unique to us, so we can be special. As long as that state of mind will continue, I think it is safe to say that leather will be just as trendy in 10 years from now as it is today. Therefore, maintain your coat or jacket and more importantly, enjoy wearing it.
