Discover how knowing what your ideal day looks like can help you achieve it -step-by-step....So with that in mind, let's start with the end in mind. "Huh" I hear you say.! Well from my own experience and that of working with other Moms I know that it's crucial that you actually know where you want to be before you can even think about going there.
WARNING - you may find this an emotional exercise. Why? Well because it creates in your minds eye the ideal picture you want for your family. Sometimes that can feel a world away as you continue the daily slog to work. But stick with it, because magically enough when you start with where you want to be, you get great clarity on where you are going and the path and route become easier.
So sit back and start to reflect on these questions! This works really well when you have some nice chilled out music in the background and you can close your eyes and let your imagination run wild. So maybe have a quick read of the questions and then make yourself comfortable and let your mind decide the answers to these questions.
1. What is the location of your ideal day?
2. Who would be around you?
3. What would you see in your ideal day?
4. What sounds would you hear in your ideal day?
5. How would you feel as you sit/stand there?
6. Are there any tastes or smells that surround you there?
So now you have the questions in your mind, make yourself comfortable and think about the answers. When you have feel you have enough clarity and details on your ideal day, jot down the answers to these questions on a piece of paper and put it somewhere where you can look at from time to time to remind yourself why you are doing this. It's great also if you 'park' a little snapshot of this day in your memory - so you can retrieve it at any time, to remind yourself where you are going and why you are pursuing an undercover escape!
While I was finishing this article a funny thing struck me about a similarity between a common scenario in daily family life and your ideal day. You those days when you come in the door and it looks like a giant bomb has exploded in your house and you raise your eyes and think, where do I start? So how do you start with this? You draw a breath to calm yourself and piece by piece you put your lovely home back together again. It's exactly the same for your ideal day - when you have a clear picture of what it is you want, you take one step at a time to get to it and slowly you have your day the way you want it.
Have fun and enjoy this exercise. Trust me that this step is key to finding your escape route. It's well researched and proven that successful people start out by deciding where their destination is.
