There is a shift happening around the upper echelons of the business management community. More women are finally managing to wrestle the top jobs away from the stranglehold of the male dominated market. Although rules have been put in place to ensure that equality is achieved and discrimination is a thing of the past, it appears as though for a long period nothing actually changed. If you look around at a large proportion of the top managing director jobs around the United Kingdom at the moment, a large proportion of those jobs will still be filled by male candidates. Why? It certainly is because of a lack of ambition from the female community.
It doesn't make sense. It certainly isn't a matter of forcefulness or dominance though, as over the years I have encountered a number of strong, determined and forthright women colleagues who are in some case more intimidating and headstrong than some male bosses.
Some claim that it is all to do with clothing and that men look more imposing in business attire than women and so wrongly are taken more seriously in top business situations. However, if you take a look around the market at the ladies business suits that are on the market today, then you will quickly see they are certainly more professionally based and allows the wearer to compete on equal terms with any man.
The latest range of ladies business suits offers a compromise for ambitious women around the world. It really is a market that has taken off as designers and investors start to realise that we are in an age when more and more female executives will emerge. Thankfully the horrible 80's ladies business suits when huge shoulder pads were all the rage is long gone, the latest range of ladies business suits is much more refined and professional to suit the needs and desires of the professional of today.
There has been a number of successes in the world of business when it comes to women executives, although whilst researching this article I only found a list of twenty females who had made it to the top CEO level. Obviously the internet isn't a definitive resource, but even if that number was multiplied by five it would still be a very poor ratio of male to female executives.
Let's hope that the world continues to evolve and we will see more powerful women in ladies business suits in the top jobs over the next decade.
